Who
is the God that so graciously saved and sanctified us? The Person called the
Holy Spirit has, amongst others, the divine work to reveal the character, yes,
the heart and mind of God, to us.
The
Spirit reveals God by opening our eyes to be in awe of the almighty God who
created the vast creation in which we live.
The
Spirit reveals God by opening our hearts to the message of the Holy Scriptures
– inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The
Spirit reveals God to our spirits and minds and lead us into our personal relationship
with our God by giving as the gifts of hope, faith, and love.
Jesus
said to his disciples, according to John 16: 13 – 15:
When
he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will
not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you
what is yet to come. He will glorify me (Jesus Christ), because it is from me
that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the
Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will
make known to you.”
The
Holy Spirit guides us into all divine truth. This is why it is an excellent
custom to observe Holy Trinity Sunday on the first Sunday after Pentecost has
been celebrated.
The
Holy Trinity has been revealed to show us the essence of the character of God
and when we believe this revelation, the Holy Spirit brings us to worship, to
being in awe of our Holy God and to revere his divine love and harmony.
At
the centre of God’s character is the revelation of the LORD as a relational
God. The essence of God is that the Trinity, from all eternity, exists as God
in the relationship of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The
Father is God, the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God – the one and only
true God. And the three ways of God’s existence are in perfect harmony, at
peace, with one another. The three Persons of the Holy Trinity share the one,
eternal Throne of Light with love and in harmony. “Listen people of God, the
LORD our God, is one!”
As
God is in perfect accord with Godself, we also are to be in harmony with our
God, the Holy Trinity, and in harmony with all God’s children. Holy Trinity, in
essence meaning God-in-relationship, desires us to share in the LORD’s peace,
harmony, and love.
The
Father created us for this purpose and the Son came to recreate this harmony
for our redemption and salvation, by giving his life to take away the sin that
stands between us and God. The Holy Spirit was sent to live in us to grant us
faith and power to have a relationship with the Father through our relationship
with the Son.
God
calls men and women, boys and girls, to be in fellowship with Godself and to be
commissioned and sent into the world to share this divine heavenly peace with
all who still live outside a relationship with the LORD God of the covenant of
grace.
Glory
to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! As it was in the beginning it is
now and will forever be!
A
liturgical Creed for Trinity Sunday:
I
believe in the one and only almighty God:
the
Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The
LORD our God, the LORD is one!
I
believe in God the Father,
Creator
and Sustainer of all things;
And
in God the Son,
Jesus
Christ, our Saviour and Lord,
who
suffered and died for our sins,
rose
from the dead,
and
is exalted in heaven
for
the sake of our eternal victory;
And
in God, the Holy Spirit,
who
assembles the Church,
makes
us one body in Christ,
convicts
us of both sin and forgiveness,
and
works eternal life in us. AMEN.
